Tom Beghin is one of the most creative and innovative performers on (and thinkers about) fortepianos. This recording features performances of late Beethoven sonatas on a reconstruction (or rather, a re-creation) of the piano that the deaf composer used to augment the sound of the instrument when writing these pieces. The sound of the instrument is fascinating, and Beghin's performances are sensitive and profound.
