I have used injectors before. I had the big Premier hand-cranked number years ago which was serviceable but not great.I went back to store bought for some years after sin taxes were added to bulk tobacco for a time pushing a pound of tobacco from $16.00 to over $80.00 for awhile.I recently decided to get back into DIY cigarettes, injecting my own tubes after finding out that Golden Harvest tobacco ($19.95 a pound) is fine cut as opposed to the usual coarse cut typical for pipe tobacco and the price for a pack of American Spirit had climbed to $13.46 a pack. I smoke about 6 to 8 cigarettes a day, or about 12 packs a month at a cost of $116.00!!! That's a bit over $1,900.00 per year!!!So, I bought a Top plastic injector to start. Took about 40 minutes to roll a pack of cigarettes, but because the spoon can be packed to preference using the included tamper, I could make cigarettes that smoke as slow and cool as my American Spirit had. But it took too long to get the end result!I tried a few spiral injectors, and the principal is flawed in that the pack is inconsistent and frequently the coal falls off and sheds a lot of 'shake'. So I reconsidered 'spoon' loaders. In the various reviews, the Top PowerRoll is the only one that users commented on not only ease of use, but how consistent and firm you could make the pack. And here we are.Because of my experience with the hand held loader and using the tamper, my learning curve was over after the first pack was rolled. One thing I would impart is you need not pack the chamber tight to get a firm pack. In fact, far less tobacco is needed than with other spoon loaders.I rolled three pack in 40 minutes on my first outing, By my second pack's worth, it was going quickly!I was able to roll three packs, had no excess bits or shake left over and produced a superior end result to anything I have used previously. Not only that, it exceeded my expectations! I no longer miss my American Spirit cigarettes! I can nearly match the quality!Bear in mind, I am using Golden Harvest (menthol) which is finely cut. Your results using a coarse cut pipe tobacco may differ. My Tobacco is $19.95 per pound and that is enough for about 600 cigarettes. With the tubes ( using Golden Harvest menthol tubes) this works out to about $1.08 per pack as opposed $13.46.And now I can make my own smokes easily and fast with consistency. If you have never used an injector, I usually suggest starting with the Top hand roller. Get a feel for it. But if you leap right into a powered injector, this is the one to get. Just make time to learn the machine and perfect your packing. You will not be disappointed. If it is as durable as it is solid in performance, I expect to be cranking out smokes for some time.UPDATE as of 03/27/23My original review still applies, but I wanted to add that, after some months of use, and a better understanding how the unit works, my cigarettes are consistent and as good as factory made. The packs I make leave little to no shake when finished. One suggestion I do have is let the machine do the work. Make sure to load the corners (edges)of the bin first as the instructions call for, and to not pack tightly. There is no need, as the machine compresses the load in the spoon perfectly. Just make sure it is full.Otherwise you will produce a cigarette that is too tight do draw and/or jam the machine. I have had no issue after my initial first few uses.I would suggest you get a can of a compressed gas 'duster', as used electronics and computer and blow it out every few uses. You'd be surprised how much loose tobacco shake can collect inside of it.Using this, I make perfect cigarettes for about $1.32 per pack. That is better than the $13.46 a pack of my preferred brand was costing me.Also, in my State of California has outlawed menthol cigarettes and tobacco, but I can legally purchace the tubes here on Amazon and the tobacco from an out of state vendor (National Cigar 'RollYouOwn' is a great source!) and not try to adjust to 'regular' tobacco. Also, I do not miss running to the store every four or five days. The machine is a worthwhile investment if you plan to continue smoking.
